…much is expected.
The SEALs believe that “the only easy day was yesterday.” There’s definitely something to be said for that mantra (even when you haven’t slept for more than a few hours in days, you are driping wet and a rubber raft is wearing a temporary bald spot into your head – Hell Week). And while I’m a huge supporter of rest, relaxation, down time and things like “nurturing” your inner child, I also believe that “to those whom much is given, much is expected.”
Tiger Woods agrees. “I hate sitting still,” he said in 2007. “I hate being stale. I’ve always got to be moving. I’ve always got to be challenged.”
It’s the weekend and how are you spending it? Need some motivation to get out the door? I did and found this…
Tho’ much is taken, much abides; and tho’
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are,–
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.
– from “Ullysses” by Lord Alfred Tennyson
We are the fortunate. Get out there. Much is expected of you…by you.
Be well.
