In 1998, World T.E.A.M. (The Exceptional Athlete Matters) Sports organized a 16-day, 1100-mile bicycle expedition through once war-torn Northern and Southern Vietnam, drawing an array of veterans from the U.S. and Vietnam, as well as notable riders like Greg LeMond and (then) U.S. Senator John Kerry.
“Vietnam, Long Time Coming”
From the project’s genesis through the film’s final screening (then release on DVD with accompanying soundtrack CD), Mike served as the Deputy Director of the organization and played key roles in orchestrating the event itself by coordinating the team on the ground in Vietnam and again back in the United States. He spearheaded all educational initiatives related to the film, organized a series of more than a dozen national screenings (complete with corporate and school visits), assisted in building the soundtrack, and worked with veteran organizations who were eager to use the film in rehabilitation and counseling settings.
