September 2013 – Carolina Cycling TT Assoc. – NC – 10 mile TT – Charlotte Motor Speedway – 48.38.8 – ave 12.3 mph – Again, lap 5 slowest with last 3 laps slow, too. Gotta break the pattern and get fast for next summer!

4/9/14 – time trial race 1 – 45:26.9 total time, ave speed 13.2 mph – good training base from the winter, not a bad race to start the season.

5/7/14 – time trial race 2 – 49:53.7 total time, ave speed 12.0 mph – proof that one can still have a bad race w/o properly eating/drinking beforehand

6/18/14 – time trial race 3 – 43:59.5 total time, ave speed 13.6 mph – proof that a recent bad race can fuel a good one.

7/16/14 – time trial race 4 – 42:54.6 total time, ave speed 14.0 mph – think it was my PR? Nope, missed by a little less than 1 minute. Great race and learned a ton about proper gearing.

April 1, 2015 – First 10 mile handcycling TT on Charlotte Motor Speedway. 44:51.7. 13.4 mph average. Got the cob webs out and happy to be back outdoors after being on the indoor trainer all winter.

May 7, 2015 – 2nd TT – 42:41.5 – 14.1 mph – felt fast and raced well. just about 30 seconds off my PR.

June 3, 2015 – TT #3 – cool and windy night, slow. 48:10.7 – 12.5 mph. wow, conditions, a tired cyclist and skipping gears can make a difference.

June 21st – 26th – 35th NVWG (Dallas, TX) representing New England PVA.

July 8, 2015 – TT #4 – humid and rain threatened, light wind. 43:30.1 – 13.8 mph. Decent race, felt strong, tried to stay consistent per lap.

August 5, 2015 – TT #5 – It was 100 degrees when I FINISHED. Strong headwind on front stretch, high humidity. I overheated right away and struggled. 53:01.0 – 11.32 mph. Sufferfest but finished!

September 2, 2015 – TT #6 – Final race of season. Tried something new and put goal lap times on bike to see my pace, etc. Set a goal of 40:00 (although I’ve never done it) and was close. 42:57.2 – 13.97 mph. Shifters a bit off, have had issues with either XT post or cables slipping all season. Time off and looking forward to some fall cruising then indoor riding this winter.

March 5, 2016 – Myrtle Beach Marathon, SC – Went over to the Dark Side, ha ha, and did it on a handcycle just to get some long distance training and racing back under my belt. Finished 9th out of 13 (2nd quad) in 2:20:23. 38 degrees at the start, headwind along the water. Felt strong early then worn out. Not bad considering last time I did race on a hc was 7 years ago and I went 2:17. Raced with a great group from Baltimore, Kennedy Kreiger Institute’s Hope Through Motion team.
